MY QUESTION: -

Faked Crucification is a drama! Self-whipping is a barbarous practice! Your suggestions to stop it?

More on this question:

Jesus Christ died on the Cross in fulfillment of a purpose. To perpetuate its sad memory on Good Friday we are served with varied media menus of fake Crucifixion - if it was real he would have died then and there - and senseless whipping that showed blood oozing out of the body. All choose the poor ‘back’ and none their eyes. How does it help to alleviate something that had happened twenty centuries ago? In Kerala, the ranked Indian literal State, in one church the priest boasted of an old practice of crawling and creeping in line on Maundy Thursday and Good Friday and I saw even many tiny tots practicing the same. In another church the practice for the mass is to sit in line, light lamps and worship God. The sad thing is that the high priests of the church encourage these disgustful practices. Religions that come out in the street for faith-promotion lose its charms, values and credibility. The sad thing is that none understands it!

People should be free to do what they want. Abraham brought his son up a mountain to kill him. Do you think that should have been stopped too?

OTHER ANSWERS: -

1. Kill the idiots who do it

2. How can a religion lose a credibility it never had? Let them beat themselves; they deserve it for perpetuating inanities! I just do not know what some people think they get out of this sort of things, it should be stopped, I agree. I am not sure how though as so many follow in this way of thinking.

3. Shared struggles, even if ludicrous and self-imposed, promote solidarity. I read about a college fraternity in America where the college boys had to pick up walnuts with their butt cheeks and carry them some distance....a shared life experience, I suppose.

4. After 6 months of winter, Kerala sounds enticing. Drink some fresh coconut milk and think about an envious New Yorker
Self-whipping is sure better than whipping someone else. Seriously, if you feel the need to disapprove of someone Else's display, the best tactic is to ignore it. Of course if it amounts to child abuse, that is something else.

5. I agree with you; people forget the real meaning behind crucification & do their own drama & others too forget Christ & get involved in it. There are a few people who realise it, like you & me & some others. Anyway, Thankyou . You made me to think

6.We should try to hinder the foundation, which this cult is based on.
